Doug Wells

Doug Wells | CEO

With BROE REAL ESTATE SINCE 2015

Mr. Wells leads all operational, investment, and capital market activities for Broe Real Estate Group and its affiliates. Mr. Wells also leads the Management Committee, which provides strategic direction for the company.

Experience
Wells was previously Chief Investment Officer of Shelter Canadian Properties Limited, a real estate investment management company. Before that, he spent 15 years with Lazard Real Estate Partners, most recently as Managing Principal with investment management responsibility for five real estate opportunity funds, which at its peak totaled more than $3 billion of committed partner capital invested in the hospitality, office, industrial, retail, senior living and structured finance sectors. As part of his role at Lazard, Wells also served as President of InTown Suites, Inc., an Atlanta-based extended-stay hotel company with 127 locations. He was previously with The Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York/ARES Realty Capital, and started his real estate career with Shelter Corporation of Canada Limited.

Education
Mr. Wells received his B.A. from Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, and his M.B.A. from the University of Denver.

John Spiegelman

John G. Spiegleman | Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel

John Spiegleman serves as Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel of OmniTRAX and Broe Real Estate Group (BREG), overseeing both companies’ legal, risk and government affairs departments.  John’s almost 30 years of experience in law, real estate and M&A is invaluable to our strategic initiatives.

Experience

Prior to joining OmniTRAX and BREG, John served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of DCT Industrial Trust Inc. (NYSE:DCT) from 2011 to 2018.  DCT was a publicly traded real estate investment trust (REIT) specializing in the acquisition, ownership and development of warehouses throughout the United States.  While at DCT, John headed the legal, risk, and corporate communications and investor relations functions.  He concluded his career at DCT by orchestrating the merger of the company into Prologis, Inc.  Mr. Spiegleman previously served as Senior Vice President and Assistant General Counsel of Apartment Investment and Management Company (Aimco) (n/k/a Apartment Income REIT NYSE:AIRC) from 2006 to 2011. Aimco is a public REIT specializing in the ownership, management, development and redevelopment of multi-family assets. While at Aimco Mr. Spiegleman was responsible for managing the legal aspects of all company transactions.  Before joining Aimco, Mr. Spiegleman was Senior Vice President of Miller Global Properties from 1999 to 2006.  Miller Global Properties, a privately held company, is an owner, developer and operator of office and hotel properties in the United States and abroad.  While at Miller Global, Mr. Spiegleman served in both legal and business roles.

Education

John, a Denver native, received his BA in economics from Denison University and his JD from the University of Colorado School of Law.

Dean Brown | SVP, Industrial Development

Mr. Brown brings over thirty years of experience in design and infrastructure of all commercial/industrial facilities. He oversees the operations and strategic planning for the Great Western Industrial Park.

Experience
Prior to joining Broe, Mr. Brown was Director of Construction at Tejon Ranch Company and worked to development water treatment facilities and interstate crossings, among other projects. Mr. Brown has also served as a Project Manager McIntosh & Associates managing heavy industrial construction projects for major oil companies.

Education
Mr. Brown is a graduate of Montana State University with a B.S. in Construction Engineering Technology

Mary Kate Corbitt

Mary-Kate Corbitt | VP, Accounting

Mrs. Corbitt heads the Accounting Group for Broe Real Estate Group and its affiliates; leading and overseeing the day to day accounting operations for the Commercial, Residential & Industrial portfolios. Mrs. Corbitt is also responsible for overseeing and managing the annual audit and budget processes.

Experience
Prior to joining Broe, Mrs. Corbitt was a Senior Audit Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she began her career. During her five years working within PwC’s audit practice she spent her first two years at the firm focusing on private company clients and three years, thereafter, in the public sector focusing on clients in the consumer industrial products industry.

Education
Mrs. Corbitt holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Denver. She is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Sean Fitzsimmons

Sean Fitzsimmons | SVP, Industrial Development

Mr. Fitzsimmons oversees the development, operations, marketing, and strategic planning for the Savannah Gateway Industrial Hub. He brings over twenty-five years of experience in logistics real estate, including leadership roles with a top-ranked industrial developer. Mr. Fitzsimmons experience spans development, brokerage, and investment management in every region of the United States. He has completed industrial deals in excess of 9M SF and over $800M of value.

Experience
Prior to joining Broe, Mr. Fitzsimmons was Senior Director Southeast Logistics for Lee & Associates in Atlanta, GA. He also held positions of Senior Vice President of REAP North America, Vice President of Investments for IDI Gazely Brookfield Logistics and Vice President, National Business Development for Industrial Developments International (IDI).

Education
Mr. Fitzsimmons is a graduate of Middlebury College with a B.A. in Economics and Geography and received his M.B.A. from the University of Virginia – Darden.

Milan G

Milan Gutesha | VP, Asset Management

With BROE REAL ESTATE SINCE 2015

Mr. Gutesha oversees BREG’s commercial real estate portfolio encompassing commercial office, medical office and retail assets. His responsibilities include portfolio and asset management, annual business plan preparation and execution, major capital project implementation, third party management and leasing oversite as well as the disposition process.

Experience
Mr. Gutesha joined Broe in 2015 and has held multiple financial and asset management positions within the company. Prior to joining Broe, he held positions in the oil and gas industry and as an auditor with Ernst & Young.

Education
Mr. Gutesha received his B.B.A. in Accounting and Finance from Gonzaga University, and earned his M.S.F from the University of Denver. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Josh Mesner of Broe Real Estate

Josh Mesner | SVP, Asset Management & Operations

Mr. Mesner is responsible for property operations and asset management of the BREG portfolio, including commercial and multi-family properties. Mr. Mesner is a member of the Management Committee, which provides strategic direction for the company.

Experience

Prior to joining Broe, Mr. Mesner was the Sr. Vice President of Asset Management at BMC Investments, where he oversaw commercial, multifamily and hospitality properties. Mr. Mesner spent seven years at Invesco Real Estate, including four years as a Portfolio Manager on the Invesco U.S. Income Fund, a diversified, open-end, core-plus, commingled fund where his role included setting the overall investment strategy of the fund, evaluating new investment opportunities, making strategic asset level decisions, managing the fund balance sheet and leverage, communicating with existing limited partners, and fund raising with prospective investors. Mr. Mesner also spent three years at Invesco in the transactions group, working on equity investment opportunities across product types and was a Director of Acquisitions in the Housing Group at Nuveen Real Estate. Additionally, Mr. Mesner has held real estate positions with Pacific Western Bank, Strategic Investment Group and JLL.

Education

Mr. Mesner earned his B.B.A. in Finance from James Madison University and is a graduate of the James A. Graaskamp Center for Real Estate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he received his M.B.A. in Real Estate.

Scott Rogers of Broe Real Estate

Scott Rogers | Director, Industrial Development

Mr. Rogers is responsible for implementing all elements of development for the Savannah Gateway Industrial Hub. Included in those responsibilities is land use planning, due diligence, marketing, leasing, asset management and dispositions.

Experience
Mr. Rogers joined the company as an Analyst and has assumed roles with increased responsibility with Broe Real Estate Group. Prior to joining Broe, Mr. Rogers worked in brokerage, development, and asset management for Southern Visions Realty.

Education
Mr. Rogers holds a B.S. in Finance and Real Estate from the University of South Carolina and a Masters of Real Estate Development from Clemson University.

Steve Rogers

Steve Rogers | SVP, National Head of Construction

Mr. Rogers oversees all elements of Construction for the commercial and residential development at Broe Real Estate Group. He works closely with the Development and Asset Management teams during due diligence to identify issues early and incorporates best practices into the process during entitlement and design. He is responsible for selection of our General Contractor partners as well as consultant and vendor selections. He is a member of the Management Committee which provides strategic direction for the company.

Experience

Prior to joining Broe, Steve brings 30 years of experience in the Development, Design and Construction industry. His career spans roles from field supervision and management to executive management for general contracting and development firms. He has managed teams that have developed and constructed over $500 million worth of work including significant projects in the pubic/civic and multi-family/hospitality sectors. In recent years Steve has provided Owner’s Representation services to a number of national developers while owning and operating his own general contracting firm in the Denver market. He holds a class A General Contractor’s license in Colorado. Prior to that he held the role of EVP of Construction for Confluent Development where he lead a team responsible for construction of a $300M portfolio of Senior Housing, Industrial, Retail and Office projects across the United States.

Education

Mr. Rogers graduated with a BS of Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1994 and an MS in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Denver in 2000.

Marc Savela

Marc Savela | SVP, Development

Mr. Savela oversees all elements of the Land and Development process, including: the identification and assessment of potential properties; detailed management of due diligence, entitlement, platting, and final site designs; and direction of site development and construction activities. Mr. Savela serves on multiple metropolitan districts associated with several company assets, with a focus on community and development operations as well as public financing of district improvements. Marc is a member of the Management Committee, which provides strategic direction for the company.

Experience
Prior to joining Broe, Mr. Savela was Sr. Director of Land Development for Brookfield Residential, where he spent twelve years in various positions – most recently Mr. Savela was responsible for the annual entitlement and delivery of approximately 1,000 residential lots. Mr. Savela has also served as the President for multiple residential Metropolitan Districts and Home Owners Associations, with extensive knowledge of community operations and public financing. Prior to joining Brookfield Residential, he practiced as a Civil Consulting Engineer designing residential, commercial, and municipal projects.

Education
Mr. Savela is a graduate of the University of Colorado – Boulder with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a Business Minor. Mr. Savela is also a registered Professional Engineer in Colorado.

Brian Spittell

Brian Spittell | VP, Finance

Mr. Spittell leads the Finance team at Broe Real Estate Group and is involved in the sourcing and execution of all debt and equity financings, strategic financial analysis, and investor and lender relations.

Experience
Mr. Spittell joined The Broe Group as a Treasury Analyst and has assumed roles with increased responsibility with Broe Real Estate Group. Prior to joining Broe, Mr. Spittell was an associate with Alvarez & Marsal Taxand.

Education
Mr. Spittell holds a B.S. and M.S. in Accounting from the Texas A&M University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a CFA Charterholder.

Chris Tecu

Chris Tecu | SVP, Industrial Development

With BROE REAL ESTATE SINCE 2023

Mr. Tecu brings over 25 years of experience in industrial and logistics oriented real estate. He has overseen all aspects of industrial design, development, leasing, investments, and dispositions on a national basis completing more than $2B in investments. Mr. Tecu works with both Broe Real Estate Group and our transportation affiliate, OmniTRAX, to create rail and real estate solutions for our customers. 

Experience
Prior to joining Broe, Mr. Tecu was a Principal at Avison Young and worked with institutional industrial real estate owners and operators in the development, acquisition, and disposition of logistics focused real estate. Prior to Avison Young, Tecu was Vice President of Investments at CenterPoint Properties.

Education
Mr. Tecu is a graduate of The University of Kansas University.
